S. G. Browne Signs in San Diego

Event date:
Saturday, October 27, 2012 - 2:00pm

Spend a Haunted afternoon celebrating Hallowe’en at MG, with just a touch of undead Christmas cheer!

S.G. Browne returns to the world of Breathers and mostly-failed Undead Anonymous member Andy Warner with holiday caper I Saw Zombies Eating Santa Claus.

Guest hosted by E.S. Magill, editor of The Haunted Mansion Project: Year One, to which Scott is a contributor.

Also appearing will be Jeanne Stein, author of Haunted, and Tamara Thorne, author of the similarly titled novel, Haunted

Jeanne Stein returns to San Diego, home to kick-ass bounty hunter and vampire Anna Strong, with the latest in the series, Haunted. Anna crosses the border to Mexico, with her ex Max, to assist her shape-shifting friend, Culebra, whose past comes back to haunt him.

Tamara Thorne has three of her horror novels recently repackaged for established and new fans, including Haunted. In addition to her tale of the dangers lurking in the Baudey House, Tamara offers scares with Candle Bay and Moonfall, the latter set just outside of San Diego.

Just in time for the holidays--a hilarious Christmas novella and sequel to the author's highly acclaimed Breathers.

How does the leader of a failed zombie civil rights movement from California rescue a group of his undead brethren "and "help a lonely Breather girl as he hides from a band of medical researchers while disguised as Santa Claus?  If you've never believed in Christmas miracles, you wouldn't understand.  Andy Warner has just escaped from a zombie research facility in Portland, Oregon, where he's been subjected to experimental testing for the past year. With Christmas just days away, Andy figures that donning a jolly old St. Nick costume to throw off his would-be captors is just the ticket. But he never expects to encounter a sweet, lonesome nine-year-old girl who not only reminds Andy of the family he's lost, but who thinks he's the "real "Santa. He also doesn't count on being recognized as last year's national quasi-celebrity by a clandestine group of decaying supporters who look to him for leadership. For the living and the undead, this unforgettable holiday tale will truly put on display just who is gnawing and who is nice....

About the Author

Scott G. Browne is the author of Breathers, a dark comedy about life after undeath through the eyes of an ordinary zombie.  His second novel, Fated, is an irreverent comedy about fate, destiny, and the consequences of getting involved in the lives of humans.

Scott was born in Arizona and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area,
spending most of his formative years in Fremont, California, as well as a
short stint on the island of Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands,
two-thousand miles southwest of Hawaii.  From 1984 to 1989 he attended
the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, where he majored
in business organization and management and eventually realized that he
wanted to be a writer.

After college, Scott moved to Hollywood, where he worked as a driver and
an assistant producer doing post-production work on television spots
and theatrical trailers for the Disney Studios.  In 1992, he moved to
Santa Cruz, California, where he lived for fourteen years writing novels
and short stories and working as an office manager. In 2006 he
completed his fourth novel, Breathers, which would become his first published novel in March 2009.

Scott’s writing has been influenced by Stephen King, Chuck Palahniuk,
Christopher Moore, Kurt Vonnegut, and the films of Charlie Kaufman and
Wes Anderson, among others.

In addition to writing, Scott enjoys biking, golfing, tai chi, and Ben
& Jerry’s ice cream. He currently lives and writes in San Francisco.

In the fall of 2010, ten horror writers met at a haunted mansion to
spend four days together. Joining them were a group of paranormal
investigators who studied the house and reported their findings. This
anthology is a collection of the fiction, poetry, journals, real
impressions, and investigative conclusions inspired by that weekend.
E.S. Magill, Rain Graves, Nikki Boscia, Loren Rhoads, Sephera Giron, Kim
Richards, Yvonne Navarro, Weston Ochse, Christian Colvin, Dan Weidman,
and S.G. Browne share their secret fears, desires and the disembodied
voices of those from beyond. Proceeds from this anthology go toward
future Haunted Mansion Project events.
