A Gripping Tale of love, friendship, betrayal, and murder Former Homicide Detective Jack Shields should be a happy, contented man. He is the best-selling author of a true crime novel who achieved national acclaim for capturing the infamous serial killer Voodoo Joe. He is wealthy, owns a beautiful house and is married to a strikingly attractive woman. Despite all this, his life is in shambles as he was forced to retire from the police department due to injuries, he is estranged from his father, his wife is verbally abusive and unfaithful, and he is haunted by a tumultuous past. However his life will take a dramatic change when a dying Mafia Don by the name of Paul Busoni approaches him with an offer he cannot refuse; to write his biography of his life and his career and publish it after he has passed on to set the record straight with the public. It should be the opportunity of a lifetime, but as he immerses himself further into the Don's life, he learns of an even greater obligation being asked of him; one that will irrevocably transform his life...if he can survive long enough. Accompany Jack Shields on the first novel of a planned series of crime dramas in a noir-style narrative which weaves a tale of sex, dark humor, crime, treachery, and honor.
