As a newspaper reporter for The Newport Ensign, then later the Daily Pilot newspaper where he won three Orange County Press Club awards, T. Jefferson Parker began to tuck away stories and information that he would eventually use for his books. Mr. Parker’s first novel, Laguna Heat, was published to rave reviews and became an HBO movie. His book Silent Joe received both the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Best Mystery and the Edgar Award. Three years later, California Girl won the Edgar for best mystery once again. In 2008, “Skinhead Central” won Parker his third Edgar, this time for best short story. The New York Times has called him “a powerhouse writer.”
Parker’s latest novel, The Last Good Guy, is the third entry in his Roland Ford thriller series. What began as a missing persons case has quickly turned into a web of lies and secrets, involving the likes of American Nazis and skinhead thugs. The more Roland searches for the teenage girl he was hired to find, the more he can’t trust the woman who hired him.
