Laura Taylor Namey is a former teacher who loves words: how they sound, the shapes and colors of them, and of course how they can be combined into stories. She loves to write young adult stories with quirky characters that are learning to navigate through life. Laura’s latest novel, The Library of Lost Things, has been called “a poignant tale about a young woman with a book-shaped-heart who finds the courage to write her own story.” (Nancy Richardson Fischer, author of The Speed of Falling Objects) As early as she could read, Darcy Wells has built a home of her own with the fantasy worlds of her books, all to avoid her mother’s obsessive hoarding; the same hoarding that constantly threatens eviction. One day, a former teen pilot walks into the bookstore Darcy works at, and nothing in her books has prepared her for how he makes her feel.
In conversation with Laura, she will be joined by fellow author Autumn Krause. Her debut novel, A Dress for the Wicked, centers around the high-stakes fashion scene of a reimagined nineteenth century Europe. Young Emmaline Watkins must decide if she’s willing to tailor herself to fit into the dark and corrupted world of fashion, all to gain the recognition she desires for her extravagant and talented dress designs.
