About the Panelists
Jessica Buck (she/her) is an Adult Services Librarian at the Escondido Public Library where she focuses on reference services, outreach, and programming. Laekan Zea Kemp is a writer living in Austin, Texas. She has three objectives when it comes to storytelling: to make people laugh, cry, and crave Mexican food. Her work celebrates Chicanx grit, resilience, creativity, and joy while exploring themes of identity and mental health. Somewhere Between Bitter and Sweet is her debut YA contemporary novel. Laura Taylor Namey is the New York Times bestselling author of Reese Witherspoon’s YA Book Club pick A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, as well as The Library of Lost Things and When We Were Them. A proud Cuban American, she can be found hunting for vintage treasures and wishing she was in London or Paris. She lives in San Diego with her husband and two children.
