Author Cory Doctorow boasts a very impressive resume: science fiction novelist, technology activist, blogger, visiting professor to at least two academic institutions, co-founder of the open source peer-to-peer software company OpenCola, alumni of Clarion, WonderCon 2019 Guest, and more. His latest novel, Radicalized, is comprised of four science fiction novellas connected by what publisher Tor’s website describes as, “social, technological, and economic visions of today and what America could be in the near, near future.” The four novellas included are Unauthorized Bread, Model Minority, Radicalized, and Masque of the Red Death, which relates back to Cory’s 2017 novel Walkaway, a story of a utopia that is the outcome of all of our workings, whether we planned it that way or not.
