Local author Margaret Dilloway has written adult titles Tale of the Warrior Geisha, Sisters of Heart and Snow, and How to Be an American Housewife and middle grade fantasy series Momotaro, a retelling of a Japanese legend that has been described as “an Asian version of Percy Jackson.”
Margaret’s latest novel, Summer of a Thousand Pies, is a sweet and charming middle grade story about family, friendship, and pie. Twelve-year-old Cady Bennett is sent away to live in the mountain town of Julian with an aunt she has never met. After growing up homeless in San Diego, this stability is completely new. Just when Cady feels she has found a place where she belongs, enjoying life and friendships for the first time, she finds out that Aunt Shell’s pie shop is failing. Now she must find a way to save the shop and her new home.
Margaret will be in conversation with Barrie Summy, author of the I So Don’t Do... YA mystery series and The Disappearance of Emily H., a tween mystery where eighth-grader Raine Watson must use her supernatural abilities to stop bullies and fight evil.
