R. Scott Boyer became fascinated with the idea of blending fantasy with new-age fiction; exploring various metaphysical and spiritual themes such as karma, serendipity, communion with nature, and the interconnectedness with all living things. In his search, he created the Bobby Ether YA fantasy series, a fun, fast-paced story that combines spiritual themes with ancient myths and legends. In this debut YA novel, Bobby Ether and the Jade Academy, sixteen-year-old Bobby finds himself abducted, whisked away to the secluded Jade Academy in Tibet. There, monks teach him and other special students the way of the Anima, the universal energy that connects all living things. Soon, Bobby finds himself immersed in conspiracy, lies, and betrayal. He and the other gifted students all become targets in creating a new breed of human with metaphysical abilities. Bobby must save the academy, as well as discover his connection to this mysterious place.
