Michael Connelly signs Nine Dragons

This latest in his Harry Bosch series is Michael Connelly at his best writing. Harry and his whining partner are assigned a liquor store robbery/murder, the victim being a longtime acquaintance of Harry's. When Bosch brings in the Asian Gang Unit to assist, the crime is tied to the Chinese Triad. Harry receives a video on his cellphone from his daughter (currently living in Hong Kong with his ex) which shows her apparently kidnapped and he is warned away from the liquor store holdup. Of course, this isn't Harry's way and he soon finds himself in Hong Kong with his ex and her boyfriend in an effort to locate his daughter. No law stands in his way as Harry races towards rescue and resolution. However, heartbreak and loss confound him. Back home in Los Angeles Bosch must face the consequences of his actions while trying to wrap up the liquor store case. This, too, proves to be a bittersweet conclusion. Harry is dealt a new hand as major changes have entered his life. In the end we trust Harry will only prevail.
