Jesse Kellerman and Matthew Quirk join us for an evening of publishing and politics! In Potboiler, a professor with severe envy of his friend’s commercial success as a writer plagiarizes his friend’s unfinished novel when the best-seller is lost at sea. His success has dire consequences, as Jesse embraces and exaggerates the tropes of the thriller. And Matthew draws on his background as a journalist for The Atlantic for his tale of a Harvard law student whose initial enthusiasm for his new job at a high-powered Washington D.C. consulting firm turns to dismay as he uncovers corruption and a political conspiracy in The 500
