Brandon Sanderson and Harriet McDougal Sign in San Diego
A Memory of Light, the 14th and final volume in Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time®, brings to a close the legendary epic fantasy series. When Robert Jordan passed away, he had prepared for the moment with hundreds of pages of notes devoted to the concluding volumes and a request to his widow and long-time editor, Harriet McDougal, to find a successor to finish the series. That successor, a renowned epic fantasy author in his own right, Brandon Sanderson, joins Harriet to celebrate the concluding volume with The Wheel of Time® fans.
This is a numbered event – numbers for the signing line are free with the purchase of A Memory of Light (or any other Jordan or Sanderson hardcover) from Mysterious Galaxy, available now.
If you are planning to attend the event, please do not place your order through the web site as all such orders are handled after the event. Instead, please call the store and purchase the book over the phone on or after the on-sale date.
"The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again."
--The opening lines of the final book in The Wheel of Time series.
About The Author
Brandon Sanderson was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska and now lives in Provo, Utah. Unlike a lot of writers, he wasn't born wanting to write books. The bug didn't hit him until he was in junior high, when a teacher handed him a fantasy novel for the first time.
After that, he was a goner. He went to Brigham Young University as a chemistry major, but his secret passion was to become a fantasy novelist. He eventually changed his major to English, and started writing novels compulsively.
In 2003, he finally managed to sell a book (his sixth) to Tor. At that time, he was writing his thirteenth novel and working a graveyard shift at a local hotel so that he could have time to write while he put himself through graduate school. (He eventually got a Master's in creative writing.)
Brandon is a practicing member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he served a mission for the church in Seoul, Korea. He married a wonderful girl named Emily in July 2006, and his first child was born in October 2007.
