The protagonist of San Diego social worker and teacher Reina Menasche’s Twice Begun, Paris Jablonski, shares some career traits with her creator.  After suffering heartache in her first marriage, Paris begins working as a counselor to recovering addicts, and finds the key to her own healing amidst the turmoil of rebuilding the lives of others, literally and metaphorically. Reina is a familiar part of the SD writing community, including receiving recognition at the San Diego Book Awards and Southern California Writers Conference.
Start: 2:30 pm
End: 3:30 pm
As a former zookeeper for the Portland Zoo (now known as Oregon Zoo), Ann Littlewood has more than enough experience to draw upon for her Zoo Mystery series. During her time with the zoo, Ann was in charge of raising cats, primates, native mammals and birds. The scratches, bites and bumps she incurred during her time there never deterred her love for the animal kingdom – not even events such as administering an enema to a baby hippo. In Endangered, the third in the Zoo Mystery series, zookeepers Iris Oakley and Denny Stellar return and are caught up in an animal smuggling ring and murder.
Start: 8:00 pm
End: 10:00 pm
