Author Patti Minyard introduces readers to the concept of The Beloved in her debut fantasy novel. Cancer treatment physicist Gabriel Walker works hard to help patients in need; he and his wife are expecting their first child, when a robber’s bullet kills Gabriel. As he departs the life he has known, he is called upon to serve as one of The Beloved, good men who serve to challenge and remove demons from the Earth, a tradition that began in the 16th century.
