After a departure from her Lily Sampson series with her antiquities mystery, The Gold of Thrace, Aileen Baron returns to the early 1940’s and intrigue and danger with her archeologist heroine in The Scorpion’s Bite. Lily travels to Palestine with an U.S. intelligence agency group, where she meets Jerusalem American School of Archeology instructor Gideon Weil. With Gideon’s assistance, Lily begins a survey of Trans-Jordan, which is disrupted when their local guide is murdered, and Gideon is accused of the crime.
