Travel writer Poke Rafferty has persuaded former bar girl / dancer Rose to marry him, and they and their adopted preteen daughter make a happy successful family. While Poke knows of Rose’s past, he doesn’t know the full story of her journey from her days as Kwan in an impoverished village, to her decision to make a way for herself in Bangkok’s infamous Patpong district – or of American Howard Horner, a violent specter from her past, who has returned with plans to do harm to Rose and those she cares for.
