Carrie Vaughn helps the staff recover from Comic-Con on Monday, July 26, at 7:00 PM, when she visits with three new releases. Her eighth Kitty Norville novel, Kitty Goes to War, finds the DJ and werewolf embattled on two fronts – working to help some veteran werewolves with PTSD, and battling a Big Box retailer. At least two more novels, as well as a collection of Kitty and related short stories, are in the works. Also, Carrie will discuss this spring’s Voices of Dragons, described as a “typical ‘girl meets dragon’ story.

Our series of summer writing discussions with the Clarion Instructors ends on Wednesday, July 28, at 7:00 PM, with a double-feature of Ann VanderMeer and Jeff VanderMeer, fresh off their appearance as Guests of Comic-Con International. Hugo Award -winner Ann has edited bookks like The Kosher Guide to Imaginary Animals: The Evil Monkey Dialogues (with Jeff) and is the fiction editor for Weird Tales.

Thursday, July 29, at 7:00 PM, MG offers some cool thriller chills on a hot summer evening with Lisa Gardner and Live to Tell. The fourth D.D. Warren novel, after last summer’s The Neighbors, earned a starred review in Publishers Weekly, which called it “outstanding, tight and consistently-engaging.” Boston police detective D.D. Warren investigates when three members of a family are brutally murdered, and the trail leads to a pediatric psych ward and troubling family ties.

Our July events wrap up with Dorothy Howell on Saturday, July 31, at 2:00 PM, with her third Haley Randolph mystery, Shoulder Bags and Shootings. Haley and her boyfriend, the owner of the department store she works at, have just returned from vacation, and Haley is close to realizing her ambition of scoring the season’s must have handbag when her arch-rival in the purse party business is murdered, and Haley is a prime suspect.
