Publishers Weekly describes Charlie Huston’s new novel, Sleepless, as an “impressive, challenging thriller set in postapocalyptic Los Angeles.” It’s the summer of 2010, and a plague of sleeplessness has struck; most people either are retreating from their wakefulness into an addictive on-line video game, or by taking Dreamer, an illegal drug that is the only temporary relief.
