Part of our Dark Days Event.

Friday the 13th is a lucky evening for fans of Young Adult Fiction, as we host three authors for our Dark Days of Winter Event. Orange County author Tahera Mafi’s debut dystopian novel, Shatter Me, was picked by Entertainment Weekly as one of the “Books To Steal From Your Kid.” The heroine, Juliette, lives in isolation, cursed by her power, the ability to kill another person with a single touch. Veronica Rossi’s Under the Never Sky, also the first in a planned trilogy, brings together former sheltered Dweller Aria, exiled from the protection of her enclosed city, and hunter and Outsider Perry, who discovers Aria holds the key to his future. Former actress and stand-up comedian Ellen Schreiber visited MGSD for the Dark Days of Supernatural in summer 2010 with her popular Vampire Kisses series. Now Ellen is exploring the furry side of paranormal teen romance with her Full Moon books, as a young couple faces the challenge of an upcoming moonlight ball, when one of them is a werewolf.

Description

Since she’d been on the outside, she’d survived an Aether storm, she’d had a knife held to her throat, and she’d seen men murdered. This was worse.

Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland—known as The Death Shop—are slim. If the cannibals don’t get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She’s been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He’s wild—a savage—and her only hope of staying alive.

A hunter for his tribe in a merciless landscape, Perry views Aria as sheltered and fragile—everything he would expect from a Dweller. But he needs Aria’s help too; she alone holds the key to his redemption. Opposites in nearly every way, Aria and Perry must accept each other to survive. Their unlikely alliance forges a bond that will determine the fate of all who live under the never sky.

In her enthralling debut, Veronica Rossi sends readers on an unforgettable adventure set in a world brimming with harshness and beauty.
