This is the first in the Gardella Vampire Chronicles, set in Regency England. Victoria Gardella Grantworth has waited two years for her debut in London after both her grandfather and father died, necessitating two consecutive years of mourning. Victoria has just found out that she is also the heir to the Gardella family vocation as vampire slayers. She has to prepare herself for her debut to society and also has to practice in secret to become a vampire slayer. Naturally, Victoria finds both parts of her life exciting and is convinced that she can carry on a normal life in society even while being a vampire slayer at night. She falls in love with the Marquess of Rockley and prepares for a life as his wife. Meanwhile, the most powerful vampire in history is in London with her undead army searching for a book that will give her powers to destroy humanity. Will Victoria be able to maintain both parts of her life? Will she decide to give up part of her life to fully enjoy the other? Read and find out! I love Regency romances and this book gives us both that and vampires too.

This is a really charming story. Anjali Kumar and Coulter Marshall are both psychic. Anjali has denied her "talent" to sense dead people her whole life and wishes she could just be normal. Coulter uses his telekinetic talent to win bets in bars. Enter Scott Wilder. He is not psychic but has been interested in the subject since he was a child. He starts a company, "The Cold Spot," for paranormal investigations. Of course, now he needs employees. He manages to find both Anjali and Coulter and the trio set off to clean up haunted houses and the like. When the military calls because they are having problems at a new military base in the desert, Scott and company find themselves facing more than they expected. If you enjoy light fiction, you will love Singh's books. We have signed books available; Sonia signed here on Jan. 13th, and she is just charming.

This is the first in a new dark fantasy series, set in a very altered Atlanta. Kate Daniels is a mercenary who makes a living cleaning up magic problems. When her mentor/guardian is murdered, she is determined to find his killer. This is a very bleak alternative world with magic set free to grind the technological works of mankind to rubble. The Pack, shapechangers-primarily werewolves, is one of the main factions with power and another is the People, necromancers who control the dead, i.e. vampires. Kate needs to determine which faction is responsible for her guardian's death. However, it soon looks as if there is a third party who is trying to start a war between the People and the Pack. Kate gets involved with some dangerous beings and finds herself in a lot of trouble. She wouldn't have it any other way. Enjoy this new world!

This is a sequel to Doppelganger. Mirei, the Witch -- who is a merging of the Witch Miryo and the Huntress Mirage -- is not only unique, but also is the most powerful Witch existing. The community of Witches is split by her existence, with many believing that she is an abomination and should be killed. The schism causes the anti-Mirei Witches to leave Starfall and set up a rival encampment. These Witches are planning on bringing down the traditional Witches and returning to the pre-Mirei way of a Witch killing her doppelganger. Mirei becomes a powerful weapon in the fight, using her power of traveling through the Void to instantaneously appear where she is needed. However, it becomes evident that Mirei's overuse of this power is slowly killing her. This is an exciting story and expands our knowledge of this fascinating world. Be sure to read Doppelganger first. -- LRE

This is the first in a new mystery series starring Laetitia Talbot, a young woman who is an aspiring archaeologist. Laetitia (Letty) comes to the island of Crete on the advice of her mentor, Andrew Merriman. She is to stay with the well-known archaeologist Theodore Russell. Letty instinctually dislikes Theodore but enjoys the company of his young second wife, Phoebe. Letty also finds herself reunited with William Gunning, a man with whom she had become infatuated months earlier. While she had expected something to come of their friendship, Gunning had disappeared. Obviously, she has no kind feelings for him now! This story is set in 1928 on the island of Crete. The history of the times is a character in this story as is the lure of the island and of its ancient history. Letty finally manages to obtain a site to explore and a team to help her, including William Gunning. There is also the tragedy of Phoebe's death, which appears to be a suicide. Letty refuses to believe that it is a suicide but finds it difficult to investigate the possibility of murder. The characters are charming and vivid. The turbulent history keeps this from being too cozy; wars and murders are always violent. There is adventure and romance enough for anyone. A very enjoyable start to a new series.

This is the second in the Riley Jensen series. Riley wakes up in an alley, naked, covered in blood and close to a corpse. She starts running and realizes that she is being hunted, but she doesn't know where she is or what has happened for the last several days. She finds some other people who are also captives in, what turns out to be, another gene research lab. With the help of the other prisoners, stallion shape shifters, she and they manage to escape. This is a continuation of the first book and is a search for the person who is in control of the attempt to genetically engineer a vampire/shape-shifter hybrid. Once again we have a very enjoyable story with lots of adventure and sex. I can't wait for the next book!

Here we have another delightful entry in the paranormal romance adventure genre. Georgina Kincaid is a succubus whose job is seducing men and sending their souls to damnation. Of course, that is her job description, but on her own time, Georgina works part-time at a bookstore and loves to read. Her favorite author is Seth Mortensen who writes a mystery series. Seth comes to her bookstore to sign books and Georgina finally has a chance to meet him. Unfortunately, she sounds off about signings and fans before realizing to whom she is talking. Starting their friendship off on the wrong foot doesn't stop Georgina from really liking Seth. Unfortunately, she can't like him too much since she sucks out a man's life force whenever she kisses him (or worse). There are some background things going on in the demon underground and Georgina becomes a target. After a couple of immortals are killed or attacked, she begins to investigate and gets pulled into helping to find and fix the problem. This is a very enjoyable story and Georgina and Seth make a cute couple, even if they can't touch each other. There will certainly be more stories to come for Georgina and I will look forward to them. This is a succubus + vampires + demons + angels paranormal story that would be classified as a "cozy", no hard edges, no graphic sex, just a lot of fun.

Joe Grey's 13th adventure is just as much fun as all of the previous ones. Christmas is coming and everyone in Molena Point is hoping for some quiet times. They should know better! Kit, the young tattercoat, has been exploring on the roofs of the downtown shops after everyone has gone home. She sees a murdered man under the village Christmas tree with a small frightened child in his arms. After some internal debate, Kit leaves the scene and manages to call the police to report the body. She and her buddy Joe Grey race back downtown only to find that the police have arrived but there is no body or child. Detective Dallas Garza is upset and hopes that they haven't been called out on a hoax. However, he does see some blood under the tree as well as some disturbed evidence. He has evidence taken even without the presence of a body. The cats go down and finally find the child, a little girl who has hidden in a small cupboard. Eventually the police find her too and she is taken away by Juana Davis, one of the female police officers. Unbeknownst to either the police or the cats, the murderer has been nearby watching all of the activity. He had come back to take care of the child, but now has to wait for a more opportune time.

Meanwhile, there has been an intruder at Kit's home with the Greenlaws. This leads to a second possible crime or are the two related? As usual, Joe Grey, Dulcie and Kit investigate and try to keep the police in the know without letting the police find out who is giving them all this great information. Joe Grey's housemate Clyde also gets involved in the adventures even though he is giving a lot of time and thought to his romance with Ryan Flannery. Of course, Joe Grey is quite concerned about Clyde's romance since any change with Clyde's situation would mean a big change in Joe's life. Don't miss this latest story of Joe, Dulcie and Kit. I with I could read about them every day!

This is an urban fantasy about Marla Mason, the sorcerer guardian of the city of Felport. She has a rival who is planning a powerful spell that could end Marla's life and destroy the city. In order to counter this spell, Marla travels to San Francisco in search of a magical artifact that will help her. She thinks this will be an uneventful trip, but she finds out differently. The sorcerers that she plans to contact for help are being killed and there seems to be someone or something else also in search of the artifact. This story is a lot of fun and is full of adventure. Marla isn't a particularly nice person, but she likes it that way, less complications. I hope this is the beginning of a series so that I have something to anticipate. (Editor's note -- it is!)

Succubus on Top (Paperback)

Georgina returns in a sequel to Succubus Blues. She and Seth are still together and things are going about as well as expected for a couple in love that can't get intimate! They are sleeping together, emphasis on "sleeping," and managing to stick to cuddling and having lascivious thoughts. Georgie is still enjoying her job in the bookstore. One of her co-workers, Doug, is in a band and unexpectedly the band seems to be getting much better and gaining a lot of attention. After Georgina sees one of the band members transacting what looks like a drug deal, she gets suspicious. After researching it, she finds what appears to be an evil influence by an unknown immortal. The band members are being supplied by a substance that enhances their natural abilities and makes them feel immortal. Unfortunately, the withdrawal goes just as far down.

Being a good little succubus, Georgina goes to her boss, Archdaemon Jerome. He and his buddy, the angel Carter, don't seem that interested in the problem, but give Georgina some advice and a weapon to use against this immortal. Since only mortals seem to be getting hurt, Jerome can't get too upset. Meanwhile, Georgina is having her own issues with a visiting incubus, Bastien, who is in town with his own agenda. Bastien and Georgina are old friends and Bastien manages to get Georgina involved with his attempts to seduce the leader of a very right-wing religious organization. Unfortunately, he can't seem to make any progress. Georgina manages to solve many of the problems, except for her relationship with Seth. Only the future will show if Georgina's status can ever be changed to allow happiness with a mortal. There is slightly more explicit sex in this story, but it is just as enjoyable as the first one.
